We should fear Holland's silence
Islamists are stifling debate in what was Europe's freest country, says Douglas Murray
‘Would you write the name you'd like to use here, and your real name there?" asked the girl at reception. I had just been driven to a hotel in the Hague. An hour earlier I'd been greeted at Amsterdam airport by a man holding a sign with a pre-agreed cipher. I hadn't known where I would be staying, or where I would be speaking. The secrecy was necessary: I had come to Holland to talk about Islam.
Last weekend, four years after his murder, Pim Fortuyn's political party, Lijst Pim Fortuyn, held a conference in his memory on Islam and Europe. The organisers had assembled nearly all the writers most critical of Islam's current manifestation in the West. The American scholars Daniel Pipes and Robert Spencer were present, as were the Egyptian-Jewish exile and scholar of dhimmitude, Bat Ye'or, and the great Muslim apostate Ibn Warraq.
Both Ye'or and Warraq write and speak under pseudonyms. Standing at the hotel desk I confessed to the girl that I didn't have any other name, couldn't think of a good one fast. I was given my key and made aware that the other person in the lobby, a tall figure in a dark suit, was my security detail. I was taken up to my room where I changed, unpacked and headed back out — the security guard now positioned outside my bedroom door.
I had been invited to deliver the closing speech to the memorial conference on what would have been Fortuyn's 58th birthday. I said I would talk on the effects of Europe's increasingly Islamicised population and advocate a tougher European counterterror strategy. There was no overriding political agenda to the occasion, simply a desire for frank discussion.
The event was scholarly, incisive and wide-ranging. There were no ranters or rabble-rousers, just an invited audience of academics, writers, politicians and sombre party members. As yet another example of Islam's violent confrontation with the West (this time caused by cartoons) swept across the globe, we tried to discuss Islam as openly as we could. The Dutch security service in the Hague was among those who considered the threat to us for doing this as particularly high. The security status of the event was put at just one level below "national emergency".
This may seem fantastic to people in Britain. But the story of Holland — which I have been charting for some years — should be noted by her allies. Where Holland has gone, Britain and the rest of Europe are following. The silencing happens bit by bit. A student paper in Britain that ran the Danish cartoons got pulped. A London magazine withdrew the cartoons from its website after the British police informed the editor they could not protect him, his staff, or his offices from attack. This happened only days before the police provided 500 officers to protect a "peaceful" Muslim protest in Trafalgar Square.
It seems the British police — who regularly provide protection for mosques (as they did after the 7/7 bombs) — were unable to send even one policeman to protect an organ of free speech. At the notorious London protests, Islamists were allowed to incite murder and bloodshed on the streets, but a passer-by objecting to these displays was threatened with detention for making trouble.
Holland — with its disproportionately high Muslim population — is the canary in the mine. Its once open society is closing, and Europe is closing slowly behind it. It looks, from Holland, like the twilight of liberalism — not the "liberalism" that is actually libertarianism, but the liberalism that is freedom. Not least freedom of expression.
All across Europe, debate on Islam is being stopped. Italy's greatest living writer, Oriana Fallaci, soon comes up for trial in her home country, and in Britain the government seems intent on pushing through laws that would make truths about Islam and the conduct of its followers impossible to voice.
Those of us who write and talk on Islam thus get caught between those on our own side who are increasingly keen to prosecute and increasing numbers of militants threatening murder. In this situation, not only is free speech being shut down, but our nation's security is being compromised.
Since the assassinations of Fortuyn and, in 2004, the film maker Theo van Gogh, numerous public figures in Holland have received death threats and routine intimidation. The heroic Somali-born Dutch MP Ayaan Hirsi Ali and her equally outspoken colleague Geert Wilders live under constant police protection, often forced to sleep on army bases. Even university professors are under protection.
Europe is shuffling into darkness. It is proving incapable of standing up to its enemies, and in an effort to accommodate the peripheral rights of a minority is failing to protect the most basic rights of its own people.
The governments of Europe have been tricked into believing that criticism of a belief is the same thing as criticism of a race. And so it is becoming increasingly difficult and dangerous to criticise a growing and powerful ideology within our midst. It may soon, in addition, be made illegal.
I had planned — the morning after my speech — to see Geert Wilders, but instead spent the time catching up with his staff. Their leader had been called in by the police to discuss more than 40 new death threats he had received over the previous days.
As I left the Netherlands I once again felt terrible sorrow for a country that is slowly being lost. A society which should be carefree and inspiring has become dark and worried. The jihad in Europe is winning. And Holland, and our continent, takes one step further into a dark and menacing future.

The Power Report, is a Parliamentary enquiry in the UK, it has enquired into why people are so disallusioned by politics and politicians and how that can be tackled.
The answer?
Give 16 year olds the vote and allow them to stand for Parliament!
Yes you read that right, 16 year olds!
I'm serious, I'm not taking the piss, they actually advise this!
Now, I dont know what you were like when you were 16, but I was a fucking idiot.
In fact I dont think people should be allowed the vote untill they are 21 years old and they should have to be 25 years old or older to sit in the lower house, and only those over 30 years old should be able to vote for the upper house and stand for the upper house once the have reached 40 years or older.
To allow fucking idiots who dont pay tax to vote is a recipe for loonacy on a scale the left can only have wet dreams about! Imagine, they could gain seats, push insane socialist ideology through parliament and into law, they would fleece the people of even more money!
Who am I kidding, this will become law and Labour will stay in office for the next 20 years, to then be replaced by the Sharia party which will abolish voting altogether!

Western traitors!
In all the debate about Iraq, Afghanistan, North Korea and now Iran, one thing strikes me!
A burning desire by the left to handicap the West in its relations with the rest of the world.
The left is not really that interested in Iraqi children, or North Korean pychos like Kim Jong Il playing with nukes. They're not intersted in the suffering of the 'innocents' or of the arab street.
They are only interested in their determination to emasculate the West. These people hate us! They hate our standard of living, they hate the fact that the majority of us still beleive in the Chritian God, however tenuously. They hate our nice homes, our holidays our low cost flights, our cars, our selfish desire to procreate. They hate the colour of our skin, the language we speak, the history of our noble people.
They hate it when we vote for people they disapprove of, they hate our resentment of having to pay half our incomes in tax, they hate the fact that we actually dont like having Islam or the gay rights agenda shoved down our throats, they hate that we are uncomfortable with or oppossed to abortion(literally murder of the innocents). They hate that we buy clothes made in China, that we invest what little money we have in the stock market or that we save to send our children to private schools.
These people hate us more than can be described in words, it is a primal hate, an all encompassing hate. Mostly they hate our love of our countries and the fact that we are willing to go to war to protect our countries. This, to them, is the unforgivable sin. They campaign ceaselessly for abortion on demand, one of the most desgusting practices there has ever been. They campaign for 'gay rights' which is really a way for them to undermine the institution of marriage, and how can a group define itself by its perversion? Go ahead bugger each other, but why advertise it? These people then demand that we accord all cultures equality in OUR nations. Why? They dont do it in their countries!
The socialists then go on and demand that we ban 'hate crime', surely all crime is hate crime? I dunno about you, but how many burglers do you think are considerate? How many muggers show their victims respect?

I recently read in the Independent, that eco-lefties want more taxes to be put on low cost air fares! You know why? To stop so many people taking advantage of the low cost flights and 'adding to global warming'! Are these people fucking insane?
It is also the same bunch who drone on about how the world would be better off without Man Kind. These people really do hate us, not only our oppinions but the fact that we live and breathe, procreate, vote, travel and consume.
In the war of cultures between the Christian West and the Islamic world, these people are traitors and subversives. They tie the hands of our soldiers, condemning some of them to death, others are condemned to humiliation and approbium.
Why would anyone want to fight for the nations of the West? All they get in return is a pittance for hard, dangerous and thankless work. They are then videoed by sneaks waiting for someone to lose his temper and sell it to a paper, who then condemn the military!
Like the pic above, the headline screams that the soldiers are horrible bullies hitting defenceless poor tots! AWWWWWW!
Well if you read the story, the soldiers had been attacked with grenades and stone throwing youths!
When put in that perspective one realises that the soldiers are doing the right thing. A good dose of discipline is exactly what the little shits deserve!
However we all know the left will roast the soldiers alive, drag their reputations through the mud, destroy their careers and basically ruin their lives! Typically socialist, turn on the brave men who protect you, but not in a noble way, no you will stand behind the 'law' far away from those strong lads who could knock you sideways with a stare!

They hate our standard of living, they hate the fact that the majority of us still beleive in the Chritian God, however tenuously. They hate our nice homes, our holidays our low cost flights, our cars, our selfish desire to procreate. They hate the colour of our skin, the language we speak, the history of our noble people.
They hate it when we vote for people they disapprove of, they hate our resentment of having to pay half our incomes in tax, they hate the fact that we actually dont like having Islam or the gay rights agenda shoved down our throats, they hate that we are uncomfortable with or oppossed to abortion(literally murder of the innocents). They hate that we buy clothes made in China, that we invest what little money we have in the stock market or that we save to send our children to private schools.
These people hate us more than can be described in words, it is a primal hate, an all encompassing hate. Mostly they hate our love of our countries and the fact that we are willing to go to war to protect our countries. This, to them, is the unforgivable sin. These people, that I describe as the left or socialists want one thing, to abolish the Christian West!
They campaign ceaselessly for abortion on demand, one of the most desgusting practices there has ever been. They campaign for 'gay rights' which is really a way for them to undermine the institution of marriage, and how can a group define itself by its perversion? Go ahead bugger each other, but why advertise it? These people then demand that we accord all cultures equality in OUR nations. Why? They dont do it in their countries!
The socialists then go on and demand that we ban 'hate crime', surely all crime is hate crime? I dunno about you, but how many burglers do you think are considerate? How many muggers show their victims respect?
These people are beyond belief! They have no shame! They have no sense!
I recently read in the Independent, that eco-lefties want more taxes to be put on low cost air fares! You know why? To stop so many people taking advantage of the low cost flights and 'adding to global warming'! Are these people fucking insane?
It is also the same bunch who drone on about how the world would be better off without Man Kind. These people really do hate us, not only our oppinions but the fact that we live and breathe, procreate, vote, travel and consume.
In the war of cultures between the Christian West and the Islamic world, these people are traitors and subversives. They tie the hands of our soldiers, condemning some of them to death, others are condemned to humiliation and approbium.
Why would anyone want to fight for the nations of the West? All they get in return is a pittance for hard, dangerous and thankless work. They are then videoed by sneaks waiting for someone to lose his temper and sell it to a paper, who then condemn the military!
Like the pic above, the headline screams that the soldiers are horrible bullies hitting defenceless poor tots! AWWWWWW!
Well if you read the story, the soldiers had been attacked with grenades and stone throwing youths!
When put in that perspective one realises that the soldiers are doing the right thing. A good dose of discipline is exactly what the little shits deserve!
However we all know the left will roast the soldiers alive, drag their reputations through the mud, destroy their careers and basically ruin their lives! Typically socialist, turn on the brave men who protect you, but not in a noble way, no you will stand behind the 'law' far away from those strong lads who could knock you sideways with a stare!
This culture of ours is rotten, and it stinks more every day!

Islamic hysteria
What an interesting few days!
A Danish paper print a few cartoons of Mohammed and all hell breaks loose! The Danish newspaper, Jyllands-Posten, had asked 40 cartoonists to draw images of the prophet. The purpose, its chief editor said, was "to examine whether people would succumb to self-censorship, as we have seen in other cases when it comes to Muslim issues."Dozens of Islamic nations have recalled their Danish Ambasadors and demand an grovelling apology from the Daniish government.
Denmark to it's credit had refused and the Danish people overwelmingly support this!
The Danish embassy in Indonesia is stormed, Hamas and Islamic Jihad in 'Palestine' warn that if they find Scandanavians they will kill them!
Violent protests break out and an EU compound in Gaza is surrounded by gun totting Muslims!
A boycott of Danish goods is under way in the Islamic world!
An editor of a French paper Le Soir is fired by his Islamic Egyptian boss for printing the cartoons!
How childish is this, what a sense of humour failure!
It also shows just how bloody dangerous these people are, they are in effect ordering us to show an exagerated repect to a false prophet we don't beleive in!
They show no respect to Christians or Jews or Hindus or Bhuddists, in fact throughout it's history Islam has raped and distroyed other nations, their cultures and religions. Islam is the least respectful ideology that their has ever been, perhaps on a par with socialism!
Nick Griffin the leader of the BNP has been cleared of racial hatred, after a politicaly instigated trial. He was put on trial for saying that Islam is a 'wicked, vicious faith', something with which I wholeheartedly agree, and I would guess many would agree.
The BNP has apparently received more funding as a result of this trial then ever before and it has welcomed more members then ever before as a result. I would not be suprised if they won more council seats and perhaps even a few seats at the next general election!
Although Labour would most probably prevent this, and if they did win a few seats, Labour would pass a law banning them! This would of course backfire as people would become increasingly angry, leading to further BNP support.
The Danish government has refused to apologise to Muslims, Nick Griffin has refused to apologise to Muslims. That is how we need to be, unapologetic to these aggressors.
